Safe Operation Methods for Roots and Screw Unit Sets
Pre-start inspection is the primary step for safe operation. First, check the lubrication system to ensure the oil levels in the oil cup, gearbox, and bearing housing reach at least 3/4 of the sight glass. If the lubricant is emulsified or contains impurities, it must be replaced immediately. Next, verify that the cooling system is unobstructed—air-cooled units require clean heat dissipation fins, while water-cooled units need to confirm normal coolant flow and temperature. Additionally, if the intake gas contains dust, particles, or corrosive components, install a filter or neutralization device before the inlet to prevent internal component damage. Finally, inspect the electrical system, control cabinet indicators, and safety protection facilities for integrity. Only proceed with startup after confirming everything is correct.
During operation, continuously monitor the equipment status. Pay special attention to the pump body temperature, ensuring the temperature rise does not exceed 40°C and the maximum operating temperature remains below 80°C, particularly for air-cooled pumps where heat dissipation efficiency must be closely monitored. Maintain the inlet pressure below 1330Pa to prevent overpressure-induced motor overload or pump overheating. During operation, ensure uniform sound levels with no abnormal vibrations or noises. If sudden current spikes, oil leaks, or unusual noises occur, immediately shut down and inspect. Additionally, regularly record parameters such as voltage, current, outlet pressure, and exhaust temperature to provide a basis for future maintenance.
During shutdown, follow the correct sequence: first turn off the Roots pump, then stop the booster pump, and promptly drain the cooling water to prevent scaling. For prolonged shutdowns, disconnect the main power supply, drain all accumulated water from the chilled and cooling water systems to prevent corrosion, and cover the unit to protect against dust. In routine maintenance, regularly clean the air-cooled heat sinks or water-cooled pipelines, inspect seals for oil leaks, and promptly replace worn components.
